My Birth Support CIC – Our Values

After eight years offering mental health support to parents in Medway and Merseyside, it is clear what our values would be as Aileen founded My Birth Support CIC in 2021.

Becoming a not for profit community interest company helps to ensure that our values remain central. We offer mental health support which is accessible and affordable for all, when the cost of living is effecting so many families and companies.

Aileen White, My Birth Support founder, says: “We hope you have enjoyed experiencing our values in action within our sessions this year.  As our staff and volunteer team grows and develops it is more and more important to make our values clear for everyone to see in writing too”

Our Values: Affordable – We’re not here to make a profit, so we offer support on a “pay what you can” basis wherever possible. Accessible – We choose accessible and comfortable venues, within easy reach of public transport, to help you feel more welcome. Collaborate – We learn and work together as a team with parents, carers and other organisations. Creative – We love to use creative approaches to learning and improving mental health. Enable and Equip – We teach people how to care for their own mental health with a toolkit of practical strategies. Inclusive – We celebrate everyone’s uniqueness including our own. Lived Experience – Our staff and volunteers have also experienced perinatal mental health issues - you are not alone! Listening Without Fixing – We encourage everyone to actively listen to themselves and each other as a foundational way to improve mental health. Whole Family – We love to welcome people of all ages and stages in their parenting/caring journey.

Aileen continues

“You now how creative we are at My Birth Support CIC, so that’s reflected in our values and also the way we share them in written form”

“For those of you who have received our support this year, you will recognise many of the features here right down to the little bee! Remember it’s okay to just be,”

Our values underpin the choices we make when prioritising projects and when we plan and facilitate events

We hope you will come and join us in the second half of this year as we plan to have even more events for the whole family and welcome new staff team members to lead our events.  More news on that to come soon.
